THE CLEFTONES: 1955 AND 2005

NOTES FROM CHARLIE JAMES
Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 12:15:34 EDT

All of us: Herb Cox, Warren Corbin, Berman Patterson, William "Buzzy" McClane and myself, Charles James (Charles Mc Ghee)... all attended Jamaica High until the music world called us. The experience was a team effort using the talents of all members of the group and we are very happy with the effort as we are extremely proud to be former Jamaica High students. The school election is where we actually were finally formed and the group CLEFTONES was born. Warren Corbin has passed away but the remaining members are still alive and enjoy seeing things in print...especially from our old High School.

Here is a picture of the Cleftones campaigning for the school elections. Marlene was a key figure in being elected and most certainly was helpful in having us campaign for "THE INDEPENDENT PARTY" which up to that point had not won an election in years. That year changed a lot of attitudes about the Independent party, Rock and Roll music, (for we performed the hit of the day "GEE" by The Crows) and started us moving forward.

From Charlie James, Former Member of The Original CLEFTONES.
