This picture, labeled "Jamaica High School Rifle Team, 1920" was shared by Mr. Peter Rapelje, whose father, (back row, right) Jacob Tipton Rapelje (1901-1982), was a member of the team and was President of his class at JHS in his senior year, Sept 1919 to June 1920.  Also pictured is the Principal, Mr. Charles Vosburgh, back row, center.

Below is an article from the New York Times, May 2, 1920, which reports the results of a competition in which JHS won first place. Jamaica team members mentioned are almost certainly shown in the picture: Jocker, Velsey, Muller, Nichols, Palmer and Smith.

Note the misspelling in the article's headline. Note also that first names are not given and we can not match the names with the persons in the picture.
