These videotapes are available for teacher use. Please see Ms Frank (Ext. 1402) or Mr. Jensen (Ext. 1401) in the library to borrow them. Each of these tapes features the running time captioned in the lower right corner of the screen. This on-screen time feature has been used by PBS to create a detailed index of the contents of each tape. Teachers can use this index, which is available in the library, to identify easily and locate quickly on the VCR portions of the tapes which will support or enrich their lessons.
For twenty-four of the titles or series (including 111 individual tapes) additional supporting materials have been prepared by PBS, such as posters, teacher's manuals, lesson plans, test questions, etc. These materials are available in the library for teacher use and are marked in the list with an asterisk.
PBS has also prepared a website for teachers where they may search the index and see a brief description of each videotape. Teachers may access this website on the computers in the library or from their own home computers.
While the supporting index and other materials for these 381 tapes will certainly make it easier for teachers to select videos and portions of videos for their lessons, it is still absolutely necessary to, and we strongly urge teachers to, PREVIEW THE TAPES BEFORE YOU SHOW THEM IN YOUR CLASSROOM.
